Breaking Down the Top Five Myths of Condo Living

Published

on

It likely goes without saying that we’re strong advocates for all the positive benefits that come along with condo living – big surprise, right? Being serious, though, the balance of communal living, convenience, and general lifestyle that condo living offers is second-to-none for a lot of folks here in Alberta, especially with detached housing prices continuing to climb the way they have been lately.

However, as attractive as it may be, living in a condominium isn’t all easy-breezy and fancy-free. With the surge in popularity that condo living has seen over recent years, we’ve seen a bit of misinformation starting to spread about just what this sort of a lifestyle entails. To dispel any rumors or falsehoods, then, we’ve decided to put on our best Adam Savage impression and bust the top 5 myths of condo living. Buckle up!

The Top Five Myths of Condo Living…Busted!

Myth 1: It’s All Carefree Living

A lot of people out there have the idea that owning a condo is just like owning a standard detached home, just with less responsibility. To be fair, it is true that your condo fees do often take care of some less-than-desirable chores associated with owning a home (goodbye, snow shovel!), but there are trade-offs that come along with this newfound freedom.

Life in a condominium means living in close quarters in a congested, multi-family area. Further, you now have partial ownership over a building that requires upkeep and care. Condo living isn’t necessarily carefree – but it’s a great way to live if you can get along and work together with your fellow community members.

Myth 2: Condos Are More Affordable Than Single Family Homes

Like Myth #1, this one is actually partially true – we even mentioned as much in the intro to this article! That said, this assertion definitely comes with some caveats.

Condos certainly have the potential to be a smart, economical choice, and can pack a lot of value per square foot – but only if they’re being managed properly and vigilantly. Responsibility must be shared between the management company and the condo board to ensure that regular (and ideally, preventative) maintenance is being done. This will help keep smaller issues at bay and hopefully keep you from running into larger, more urgent issues that could be detrimental to the value of your investment.

Myth 3: Condos Are Easier to Sell Than Homes

Now, this myth is just flat-out false, incorrect, and misleading. Condos are definitely not easier to sell than detached houses and are often outshone by single-family homes when it comes to reselling value.

Now, to be fair, that isn’t to say that condos are unsellable – condos make up a significant chunk of the real estate market here in Alberta, after all – but they can sometimes be a more challenging sell than your standard, detached house because of other factors external to your specific unit including the existence or absence of particular amenities, the state of current condo community bylaws, and more.

Myth 4: Condos Are Only for First-Time Home Buyers

Once again, this is a myth that we are happy to put soundly to rest. Condo living is just as much for seasoned homeowners as it is for those looking to break into the real estate market for the first time, period. It only takes a brief look at the current condo market to see just how many listings are meant to appeal to families, executives, empty nesters looking to downsize, and more. When it comes to life in a condominium, there’s something out there for everyone!

Myth 5: Noise Complaints Are No Problem to Fix

Circling back to the first myth we tackled, condo life is all about communal living and mutual respect. When condo owners opt to ignore these common courtesies, however, real trouble can start brewing.

This is never seen more clearly than in the instance of a noise complaint dispute between two residents. These situations can be difficult to fix and often turn into long, drawn-out feuds fueled by he-said, she-said arguments with little room for evidence, fact, or arbitration. The best line of defense is to be kind and courteous to your fellow condo dwellers, follow the rules laid out in your complex, and keep the lines of communication open at all times – that way, any problems can be nipped in the bud before they get too far out of control.

And there we have it – the top five myths of condo living, busted! Still not quite sure if condo living is right for you? Looking to learn a bit more about everything the condo lifestyle involves before taking the plunge? Get in touch with us at Catalyst Condo Management today – we’re always happy to chat about anything and everything condo-related, including just what, ’s so great (and even what’s not-so-great) about owning and living in a condo here in Alberta.

Everything

Cannabis is not just for stoners anymore. It’s been legalized in many states across the US, and now there are plenty of cannabis-related businesses popping up all over the country. But what exactly is cannabis? What makes it different from other types of herbs? And why have so many people suddenly begun smoking it? Also how to get cheap weed online.

What is Cannabis?

Cannabis is derived from the plant Cannabis sativa, which grows naturally in temperate and sub-tropical climates worldwide. The cannabis plant contains a number of different compounds, including the psychoactive component THC. THC is responsible for the “high” associated with cannabis use.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in research involving cannabis as a treatment for a variety of medical conditions. Here are five facts about cannabis that you may not have known:

1. Cannabis is effective as a treatment for chronic pain. A 2017 study published in the journal Pain found that CBD was effective in reducing chronic pain symptoms in patients who had failed multiple other treatments.

2. Cannabis is also effective as a treatment for anxiety and depression. A 2018 study published in the journal Frontiers in Pharmacology found that CBD was able to reduce anxiety and depressive symptoms in healthy individuals.

3. Cannabis can help improve sleep quality. A 2016 study published in the journal Neurotherapeutics found that CBD improved sleep quality in people with insomnia.

How Does Cannabis Affect Me?

Cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug in the world. There are a few different ways that cannabis can affect you, but the effects are usually subjective. For example, people feel euphoric and relaxed when they use cannabis, while others experience increased appetite and pain relief. However, there is scientific evidence to support some of the claims made by users about cannabis.

Cannabis has been shown to have various medical benefits. It can help alleviate symptoms of chronic pain, stimulate appetite in people with HIV/AIDs, and improve sleep quality for people with anxiety or PTSD. Additionally, cannabis has been shown to be an effective treatment for certain types of cancer. However, more research is needed to confirm these findings.

Because cannabis is a drug that has many potential benefits and drawbacks, it’s important to be aware of the risks before using it. Cannabis can increase anxiety and paranoia if it’s used frequently or in high doses. It can also lead to impaired judgement and coordination if used while pregnant or breastfeeding. Finally, cannabis use can increase your risk of developing addiction if you start using it regularly.

Who Should Use Cannabis?

Cannabis is a plant with a long history and many uses. For some people, it can be helpful for medical purposes. However, the use of cannabis is not limited to people with specific medical conditions.

Cannabis can also be helpful for recreational purposes. People who use cannabis typically do so to relax or have fun. Cannabis may also help improve moods and relieve pain.

There are a few things you need to know before using cannabis. First, cannabis should not be used if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Second, it is important to be aware of the fact that cannabis can affect your ability to drive or work. Third, it is important to be careful when using edibles because they can contain high levels of THC. Fourth, always keep in mind that cannabis is not safe for everyone. There are risks associated with using cannabis, even if you use it responsibly.

A Brief History of Cannabis

Cannabis has been used as a medicine and psychoactive drug for thousands of years. It is thought to have originated in Central Asia and was first cultivated in China. The first recorded use of cannabis as a medicine was in 2550 BC. Cannabis was also used as a recreational drug in ancient Greece and Rome. In medieval Europe, it was used to treat pain, depression, and anxiety. In the early 20th century, cannabis became popular as a recreational drug in North America and Europe.

Cannabis has been banned by the government of many countries, but it is legal for medical use in several states in the United States. Cannabis is also legal for recreational use in some states in Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

Conclusion

Cannabis has been used for centuries as a natural medicine and remedy. It can help to relieve pain, anxiety, and other conditions. In today’s world, there are many people who use cannabis for recreational purposes.
